DEBATE:  A UNIVERSAL THEORY OF AGING

Why do we get old anyway? There are so many theories of human aging -- the oxidation theory, the mitochondrial aging theory, the pineal gland/melatonin/aging clock theory, the hormonal theory (estrogen, testosterone, growth hormone), the telomere theory, the autophagy theory (inability to clean up cellular debris), and the  metabolic/calorie restriction theory of aging.

A new universal theory of aging has been proposed that we found intriguing. We're a bit surprised to find it hasn't gained much attention on anti-aging message boards, discussion groups or websites since it was unveiled earlier in 2007.

It's connected with a commercial website, www.longevinex.com that markets a red wine resveratrol pill, but pass by the commercial pitch to read the fully-referenced manuscript which is titled: "Unified Theory of Aging."

This theory explains all the other theories and asserts there is a way for humans to achieve an indefinite lifespan. It explains three stages of human aging: 1. growth,  2.progressive aging and 3. cessation of aging. The theory holds that the rate of aging is controlled by the rate humans accumulate minerals. It's worth the read.

While a number of other websites are devoted to achieving super- longevity and attempt to raise money for undefined studies using laboratory mice, this new Unified Theory of Aging is connected with a known technology, specifically resveratrol with mineral chelation. Bill Sardi, author of the theory and inventor of Longevinex, privately discloses that their company is moving ahead with human clinical studies as well as animal trials, and that their company intends to unveil a non-invasive technology to measure human aging during the next year, a technology that can measure the effectiveness at reversing or controlling the rate of aging. If these technologies currently under development work, Sardi and company have taken us to a new and different horizon.

Keep your eye on this development, as we are. --GG Res News editor

P.S. Scientists frequently point to a number of organisms that seem to live forever. These longevitrons include the American Lobster. So you need look no further than nature for instances of apparent immortality.
